We are recruiting a Machinist AIT Engineer on behalf of a fast-growing international space technology company developing next-generation Earth observation satellite systems.

As the organization rapidly scales its satellite manufacturing capabilities, it is seeking experienced precision machining professionals to support the production and integration of flight hardware.
About the Role
As a Machinist AIT Engineer, you will provide critical mechanical support to satellite production by performing precision machining, mechanical rework, inspection, and repair activities directly on the production floor.
Working alongside assembly, integration, and engineering teams, you will help resolve mechanical issues quickly, manufacture replacement components when needed, and ensure production continues without unnecessary delays.
This role is ideal for experienced precision machinists who enjoy solving complex mechanical challenges in a high-quality manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision machining and mechanical rework on satellite components.
- Repair damaged threads using Helicoil or equivalent thread repair methods.
- Extract broken fasteners and perform mechanical repairs during satellite assembly.
- Manufacture replacement parts using manual and CNC machining equipment.
- Inspect components using precision measurement equipment and engineering drawings.
- Record rework activities and non-conformances in engineering tracking systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify recurring issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Maintain tooling, measuring equipment, and machining resources to the highest standards.
Requirements
Required
- Experience in precision machining or mechanical manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of manual and CNC machining processes.
- Experience working to tight mechanical tolerances.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, bore gauges, and calipers.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience performing thread repair and mechanical rework.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
- Aerospace, defence, motorsport, medical device, or other precision manufacturing experience.
- Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of cleanroom or ESD-controlled manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with engineering tracking systems such as Jira.
- Experience supporting engineering teams during production and root cause investigations.
